thisisMAJOR is a Black femme-led independent press devoted to publishing ritual texts, freedom literatures, and poetic transmissions from those chosen to lead the re[sis]tance. We are not here to compete with empire. We are here to remember what was buried beneath it.

Our books are offerings—bound spells, vessels of ancestral memory, and catalysts for prophetic voice. Founded by author and visionary Shayla Lawson, thisisMAJOR was born as both a sanctuary and a signal:

A sanctuary for those who’ve been silenced. A signal to those ready to return to their own sacred intelligence.

We believe in:
